To access the Media Center subscription databases:
Go to the BRRHS home page: http://www.brrsd.net/curric/HS/library/index.html
On Left sidebar - Select HS Library
You will be directed to the BRRHS Library Webpage, where you can view a list of all the Subscription Databases. Click on the link to the database that you want to search and enter the User ID and Password in the login page.

Spices & Herbs & The World in Your Kitchen: Facts on FIle World Atlas : Select a country from the drop-down menu. Click on People & Culture in the "At a Glance" box. Select topics from the "People & Culture" box (Cuisine, holidays, etc.) on the right side of your screen.
Culturegrams Select the World Edition tab. Select Recipes from the blue banner at the top of the page, and then select a country from the list presented. Also, select a country from the drop-down menu on the left and from the left side-bar select Customs & Courtesies (Eating) or Lifestyles (Diet).
CountryWatch Select your assigned country from the Country Review drop-down menu in the left sidebar. Click on some of the selections under the Country Review (Culture & Arts, Cultural Etiquette) to view information and links to other web sites.
Ebsco HostUse to find articles and reference material on herbs and spices. Recipes can be found, as well as magazine articles and reference materials on the background of these ingredients.
Student Research Center: Click on the check-box under the images to select the type of resource you want to retrieve (magazine, newspaper, encyclopedia). Click on Full Text to limit your search only to complete articles (vs abstracts of articles). Use the Advanced Search to narrow your search term to specific segments of the article (i.e., title). Try typing a country name and selecting Title from the drop-down menu, and Foods in the next box with Subject selected from the drop-down menu.
Try the Visual Search feature to see different categories of articles.
Custom Newspapers Newspaper articles contain recipes, interesting facts, and background information. Use the Advanced Search feature to obtain more relevant articles (e.g., type your spice/herb name and designate that it appears in the title of the article). Truncation is accomplished by using an * at the end of the root word.
Science Resource Center Designate your search term as Keyword. View articles under all tabs at top of results list (Reference, Magazines, Newspapers). Citation information is provided at the bottom of each article.
McCormick & Co.A Spice Encyclopedia on the history of herbs and spices, as well as information on individual items, including origins and folklore, provided by a major producer of cooking products.
